The “Long Day of Flight” is an annual Austria-wide initiative on the themes of flight and coexistence with numerous events under the patronage of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

In 1938, Hohenems was a possible gateway to freedom for Jewish refugees. Many tried to escape the horrors of National Socialism here. We follow in their footsteps on our walk from the Hohenems Jewish Museum on the Old Rhine to the Paul Grüninger Bridge. Refugees and escapees have their say in eyewitness interviews along the way and we highlight various aspects of the eyewitnesses of the Holocaust.
