In ‘Hoed op voor Rembrandt’, photographic portraits of children such as lonely damsels, sun kings and magicians can be seen in combination with several engravings by Rembrandt. These works of art present the most beautiful, crazy and extravagant headgear. The series of photos was created as part of the multi-year art project Hoed op voor Rembrandt by the Stichting Kunstonderwijs De Rode Loper op School. Children from primary schools in Amsterdam designed a hat and are portrayed in the spirit of Rembrandt by photographer Marije van der Hoeven. The results are joyful, moving and surprising. The children are proud and think of who they would have been in the past.
