Following the legislation passed in the 19th century which allowed Jews to no longer be confined to Judengasse, many families gradually settled on Untergasse, which has since been renamed Radetzkystrasse.
This district, restored at the end of the 20th century, is increasingly attracting tourists. On the eve of major urban construction projects and gentrification, the exhibition “On Board. Living together in the Untergass’ explores the history and life of this district. The exhibition features the Hohenems photographer Dietmar Walser and a series of interviews with the inhabitants of Untergass.
