Following the Nazi invasion of 1938, Jewish organisations tried to find ways to escape. The main focus was on children, in the provision of sometimes risky transport to find refuge from persecution. The start of the WW2 put an end to this organised rescue, with many of the children who remained in Austria subsequently being deported and killed.

The exhibition, curated by Sabine Apostolo and Caitlin Gura-Redl, is dedicated to those children who were sent to other countries between winter 1938 and autumn 1939. Many of them took refuge in Great Britain. Their difficult conditions of exile, having to survive thanks to small jobs, but also the engagement of some in the British army liberating Austria.
