Exhibition “Brazil in the art of Hannah Brandt and in the archives of the Scheier family”

Article publié le 24 March 2022

The exhibition presents exceptional works by Jewish artists who fled to Brazil in the 1930s, as well as those of their descendants. 15,000 refugees were received between 1920 and 1945, the majority of whom were Jews fleeing Nazism. Among them, a significant number will be remembered for their contribution to the cultural and scientific history of Brazil.

This exhibition is organised in partnership with the Consulate General of Brazil in Geneva and Casa Stefan Zweig (Petrópolis, Brazil) following the exhibition “Legacy of Exile (1933-1945): the contribution of World War II refugees in Brazil” and the recent publication of the English version of the “Dictionary of Refugees from Nazi Fascism in Brazil”.
