Many artists, including Manet, Morisot, Cassatt and Whistler, were inspired by Rembrandt to make their engravings, and the exhibition presents their works alongside those of the Dutch master. Thus, in the 1850s, they allowed a renaissance of prints, and through this intermediary a rediscovery and revival of the work of Rembrandt. But also that allowed in the 19th century to many women artists to make a name and a reputation by devoting themselves to this style. This exhibition follows a donation made to the museum by collector Neeke Fraenkel-Schoorl.
