With ‘Open Studio’, the Jewish Museum of Belgium is transforming the neighbourhood around it into an exhibition space whilst its building is closed for renovation. Around ten paintings by Arié Mandelbaum – an artist born in 1939 whose family originated from Poland and who settled in Brussels, near the Gare du Midi, like many Jews at the time – are on display in venues in the immediate vicinity of the museum. His work centres on the themes of traces, erasure and memory. The exhibition route runs between the CINEMATEK, the Cinéma Galeries, the Maison des Arts et de la Culture Sociale (MACS – Grands Carmes), the Bruegel Cultural Centre, the Brussels CPAS, the Maison CFC, the Théâtre des Tanneurs and the Jewish Museum of Belgium.
