Nicknamed the ‘European Quarter’ due to the strong presence of European institutions, notably the Parliament, it is indeed difficult to imagine that this neighbourhood – so close to Ixelles and appearing so modern – is home to Brussels’ longest and most fascinating Jewish history. From the painter Félix Nussbaum to the Jewish general who served alongside King Albert I in the trenches, and from the historic synagogues to the space dedicated to Itzhak Rabin, this neighbourhood also witnessed a significant episode in the Belgian Resistance. All this will be explored during this fascinating guided tour.
