Sport is often credited with bringing people together and bridging cultures and social classes. This is particularly true in working-class neighbourhoods, where clubs emerge that go on to become legendary. One example is Union in Brussels. This exhibition, organised by the Augsburg Jewish Museum, explores the very strong bond that united Jewish athletes and supporters with the city’s club, even during times of exile when that bond continued to be cherished. It also examines racist and anti-Semitic abuses and all forms of discrimination that may have existed within sporting institutions. The exhibition is organised in collaboration with FC Augsburg and the University of Augsburg.
