In 2023, archaeologists discovered the remains of a synagogue dating back to the 14th century. It was hidden in a building that served different functions over the centuries when the practice of Judaism was suppressed by the Inquisition. The priest and historian Rodrigo Caro wrote in 1604 that a hospital was located in a place where Jews used to come to pray.
