Can we laugh at anything, and can we laugh with everyone? These timeless questions, typical of Pierre Desproges’ work, are fortunate to have answers that predate even the start of the great French comedian’s career. Yes, it is possible, provided that talent, boldness and intention are clear in this endeavour, without having to consider the legitimacy of the person tackling these subjects. As demonstrated by the three great films being screened this summer on the forecourt:
‘The Dictator’ by Charlie Chaplin, on Friday 21 August at 9.30 pm
‘To Be or Not to Be’ by Ernst Lubitsch on Saturday 22 August at 9.30 pm
‘The Producers’ by Mel Brooks on Sunday 23 August at 9.30 pm
